The Periodical Publishers Association (PPA) is the organisation for magazine and business and professional media publishers in the UK. PPA's role is to promote and protect the interests of the industry in general, and member companies in particular.
The association's membership consists of almost 400 publishing companies, who together publish more than 2,260 consumer, business and professional magazines.
They also produce a large range of directories and websites, in addition to organising conferences, exhibitions and awards. A number of the larger companies also have TV and radio brands linked to their publishing interests.
Our mission is to:
PPA is a member of UK Publishing Media: an £18bn alliance of newspapers, magazines and books, which collectively represents one of the largest investors in the rapidly-expanding information society. Visit www.publishingmedia.org.uk for more information.
PPA Training develops high quality, progressive courses that respond to the fast pace of change in the industry and satisfy both the current and future needs of publishers. PPA training is dedicated to the development of people who work across the magazine industry and each year a training programme is produced that reflects this commitment by offering an extensive selection of courses, available to both PPA member and non-member companies.
PPA Training consults widely within the industry and offers vocational courses in editorial, media sales, digital media, design, marketing, circulation, production, leadership and core publishing skills. Courses cover all of the key areas of professional media and magazine publishing and the content covers the latest industry data and trends.
As well as the wide range of short courses, PPA Training offers professional qualifications including: PPA Diploma in publishing, PPA Editorial diploma, PPA Diploma in advertising sales, PPA Certificate in direct marketing, endorsed by the Institute in Direct Marketing, PPA Certificate in production management, PPA Professional certificate in journalism and PPA Certificate in circulation management for business magazines and PPA Professional certificate in media sales. All qualifications are developed in conjunction with the Periodicals Training Council.
Whilst our open programmes offer the advantage of networking with delegates from other magazines, in-company training can have significant benefits. It can be more economical and can be completely focused on and tailored to each company's vision, situation and products.
We can deliver any and all of the courses featured in the training brochure for you. We can build on an existing programme, mixing and matching the elements that are most relevant. Or we can design a programme from scratch. Whatever the client wants, we can find the right solution at the right price.
